Jones Country Store is a dream come true for us. We started our first business, ChrisMis Farm, on our home farm which is just a couple of miles from Jones Country Store. Our farm is where we raise our 5 children, as well as a variety of homestead animals, including goats. Our oldest daughter had an interest in taking goats as a 4-H project, so we started a journey that we had no idea would lead us to where we are today!
One of the awesome benefits of raising goats is the goat milk. While we do enjoy drinking the milk, it also makes a fabulous soap. We had some experience with soap making, but it wasn’t until we started experimenting with goat milk that we felt like we had a truly great soap. Goat milk adds a luxurious quality to soap that is hard to achieve otherwise.
We started sharing our handmade soap with friends and family who enjoyed it as much as we did. With encouragement from them to “do something more” with it, we set up a table at our local Labor Day Festival to see what kind of interest was out there. We quickly found out people liked our soaps and were begging us for more! That was the next step in our journey.
Fast forward 5 years, and after countless craft shows, farmers markets and selling our ChrisMis Farm products in 3 different stores, we decided we needed more room to expand. That's when an opportunity to purchase the barn, then known as the The Marketplace, arrived.
With space set aside for our handmade bath and body business to grow, we contacted some of the local artisans we met along our journey through the craft show world and asked them to join us. We wanted to create a community within the walls of Jones Country Store that included as many local, quality craft makers and artisans as possible who could offer our customers truly one-of-a-kind gifts, art, home décor and clothing.
Thank you for joining us on our journey, and we hope to see you at the store!
